My Easy Therapy
Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 2026
My Easy Therapy uses browser storage (including cookies, localStorage, and IndexedDB) to keep the app working and to understand how it is used. This page explains what we use and why.
What is browser storage?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. We also use localStorage and IndexedDB, which are similar technologies that allow apps to store data locally on your device.
Some of this storage is essential: without it, core features like staying signed in simply cannot work. Other storage is optional and used for analytics with your consent.
Strictly necessary storage
These are required for the app to function. They cannot be disabled.
Authentication session (Firebase Auth, localStorage/IndexedDB): keeps you signed in between sessions. Without this, you would need to log in every time you open the app.
App preferences (localStorage): stores your chosen theme, notification settings, and other UI preferences so they are remembered across visits.
Offline cache (Service Worker, Cache API): stores app assets so the app loads quickly and works offline as a Progressive Web App.
Error monitoring (Sentry): when something goes wrong, the app may send diagnostic data through our own domain to Sentry. Session replays on errors are masked so on-screen text is not recorded. This storage is essential for reliability and is not used for advertising.
Consent record (localStorage): remembers your cookie consent choices so we do not ask every time.
Checkout session data (localStorage): temporarily stores payment session information during the Stripe checkout flow.
Analytics storage (optional)
With your consent, we use our own analytics and Google Analytics 4 (through Firebase Analytics) to understand how people use the app. This helps us improve features, fix problems, and prioritise what to build next. Without your consent, no analytics events are sent.
Google Analytics uses cookies (typically named _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish users and sessions. Analytics data is pseudonymous, not anonymous: when you are signed in it is linked to your account id, and our own analytics records also link it to your email address. It is never used for advertising.
Separately, the app keeps a random visitor id and a note of the link or campaign that brought you (localStorage and a first-party cookie, named met_*). Nothing is sent from them for analytics unless you consent. If you buy a membership, they go with your checkout so the purchase is credited to the right channel.
With your consent, we also use Microsoft Clarity to see how the app is used through aggregated heatmaps and session replays: for example, where people tap, scroll, or get stuck. Clarity is provided by Microsoft and sets cookies (typically named _clck and _clsk, and CLID on clarity.ms) to recognise returning sessions. We enable Clarity's masking so the text you type and sensitive on-screen content are not captured in recordings. Microsoft processes this data under its own privacy terms.
You can opt in or out at any time by visiting Settings → Privacy & data → Cookie preferences. Choosing "Essential only" disables all analytics collection: our own analytics, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
Third-party storage
Stripe (payment processing) may set cookies during the checkout process to prevent fraud and verify transactions. These are governed by Stripe's own cookie policy.
With separate marketing consent, Meta Pixel runs on membership sales pages and the payment return screen to measure Facebook and Instagram advertising. It sends browser information and page or purchase events, including the amount and currency, to Meta. It may use _fbp and _fbc cookies. With marketing consent, these attribution identifiers and your consent choice pass through Stripe checkout to the app payment return screen to measure the sale across our two domains. The pixel is unloaded before private app screens open. We do not intentionally send email addresses, names, quiz answers, journal entries or therapy conversations to Meta. Automatic event collection and advanced matching are not enabled by this integration.
Marketing cookies are optional. You can withdraw marketing consent in Cookie preferences. Choosing Essential only disables marketing tracking as well as analytics.
Managing your preferences
You can change your cookie preferences at any time in Settings → Privacy & data → Cookie preferences.
You can also clear browser storage at any time using your browser settings. Note that clearing storage will sign you out of the app and reset your preferences.
To opt out of Google Analytics across all websites, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version.
